Rock

more sunshine than any other spot in the Lower Mainland, is almost picture-perfect,
with a promenade that runs for 4.5km (4 mi) on the beach-front and a long
pier that extends into the Pacific Ocean. You can walk for miles along
the sand, beach comb, build sand castles, swim or sunbath.
This charming community
offers a variety of shopping and unique gift shops, emporiums, art galleries,
cafes and exotic dining. White Rock has long been know for it's oceanfront
fish and chip shops.
The seaside community
of Crescent Beach with just around the point, and the US/Canada border
crossding, with it's Peace Arch and flower gardens is just along Semiahmoo
Bay.
White Rock is named
for the very large white rock on the beach. Legend has it, that a Sea
Gods son fell in love with a Cowichan Indian Maiden. The lovers
after being rejected by both fathers, vowed to make a new home.
The Sea Gods
son on seeing the big white rock, picking it up, threw it across Georgia
Strait and then with his Cowichan princess, they followed the rock to
begin a new life and a new tribe.
